Spice Girls agree for reunion world tour
LONDON: The English all girls band Spice Girls have agreed to sign up for a reunion world tour for which each member will get 10 million pounds.
The disbanded group comprising Baby, Ginger, Posh, Scary and Sporty will release details of their 25-date "farewell" tour next Friday.
Mirror.co.uk reports that the band's Virgin record label will organise private jets to take each one of them around the world.
A source said the reunion would be the most talked about showbiz event of the year. "This deal has taken years to sign off. But finally all the girls are on board. It's going to be one of the most phenomenal pop events ever. No expense is being spared to make this an unrivalled spectacular."
The insider added: "The sum on the table is huge - but then it had to be to get the more reluctant members like Mel C to agree. She's been quite precious about her solo career and has always said she'd never get back with the girls.
"But with such a huge sum guaranteed, you can hardly blame her for finally caving in. Now she's now one of the most enthusiastic - although they're all buzzing with a mixture of excitement and trepidation."

THE Spice Girls may be heading to Australia. The '90s pop phenomenon are expected to announce plans at a press conference in London today for a whirlwind world reunion tour.
The reformation tour featuring all original five members - Geri Halliwell, Victoria Beckham, Emma Bunton, Melanie Brown and Melanie Chisholm - will start in London in December.
Each girl is rumoured to be making $20 million for the tour, with about 25 shows globally.
Dates are tentatively scheduled for London, Europe, the Middle East, America and Japan.
The band's management has been pitching one or two Australian dates - in Melbourne and/or Sydney - to local promoters to take place after the Japanese shows in January or February.
It would be 10 years since the Spice Girls' only Australian visit, in January 1998, for a promotion-only tour that saw them venturing to Highpoint for a screening of their movie Spice World.
Sporty Spice (Melanie C) is the only Spice Girl to have ever sung live on these shores.
The group will release a best-of album, celebrating 10 years since their debut Wannabe, late this year.
An unreleased song, Woman, is rumoured to have been updated for issue as a possible Christmas single.
The Girls have reunited with former manager Simon Fuller, who went on to create the Idol franchise.
Fuller is pitching a Spice Girls TV documentary, similar to the one that relaunched Take That's career in Britain, to air in September.
Victoria ¡°Posh¡± Beckham has maintained the highest profile since the band split, helped by her superstar soccer-playing husband David and regular appearances at fashion shows and on tabloid front pages.
The couple have moved to Los Angeles where David has signed to play for LA Galaxy, and Victoria appears determined to carve out a career of her own in fashion and television.
Other bandmates have been less fortunate after pursuing singing careers that never matched the success of the group.
Melanie ¡°Scary¡± Brown largely disappeared from the public eye until a high-profile paternity case involving Hollywood star Eddie Murphy.
Earlier this month, a DNA test confirmed Murphy as the father of Brown's newborn baby girl after he declined to publicly acknowledge paternity.
Fuller is quoted as saying of the reunion: "The Spice Girls were huge worldwide and they want the reunion to reflect that. But it is fair to say some of them need it rather more than others."
A leaked memo to the band members from Fuller included comments: "Do not talk about money that you will potentially earn from the reunion, talk about memories of the Spice Girls with affection and pride.
"Do not get into spats between yourselves over plans and decisions - is it worth it?" and "Do not become pregnant, please!"
The Girls are aged 31-34 with six kids between them - soon to be seven, with Bunton in the final stages of pregnancy.
Melanie C is the only non-parent in the band.
In their heyday the Spice Girls sold 53 million albums worldwide, but reaction to news of the reunion has been mixed.
While media interest in reviving the band that once epitomised female empowerment is high, it has also been met with considerable cynicism.
¡°So why have a reunion?¡± asked the UK's Daily Mirror tabloid.
¡°Maybe it really is for the fans. Or perhaps it's because Sporty, Scary, Posh, Ginger and Baby need each other more than we need them.¡±
