Morning Musume leader Yoshizawa Hitomi (21) is mourning the death of her 16-year-old brother Kouta who died while riding a bike in Tokyo and was struck by a car. According to the Tokyo Metropolitan Police, the teen was riding his bike on the 10th and was struck by a 20-year-old driver around 10:50 p.m.
Police believe that when he was hit, the teen hit his head hard on the asphalte. According to eyewitnesses, there was a lot of trauma (a lot of blood) and by the time ambulance arrived, his lungs and heart have stopped. According to friends of the teen, before the accident, he was eating with friends at a local fast food restaurant.
Police are trying to find out if the adult was speeding or didn’t see the sign and failed to stop. Yoshizawa was given leave time and to temporarily cancel Morning Musume activities but in a surprise, Yoshizawa made the decision to perform at a Morning Musume concert on the 14th in Osaka as she felt it was her obligation as leader of Morning Musume and to her fans.
Yoshizawa announced earlier this year that she will be graduating from Morning Musume on May 6th.
